Essay:  When October creeps closer I always start thinking about these cookies. My mom started making us them when I was a little girl and I can’t remember a year without them. They are super moist and flavorful, and celebrate the wonderful combination of pumpkin and chocolate. I have carried on my mom’s tradition of making these cookies for my own children. I make them multiple times during the holiday season, starting in early October. We just can't get enough! A.M. Homes wrote, in an article in the April 2007 issue of O Magazine, “Every family has a story that it tells itself, that it passes on to the children and grandchildren . . . it becomes the flagpole that the family hangs its identify from.” I believe that a family’s story is also told through “food traditions.” Certain recipes become a story, a thread that weaves a family’s history together. These cookies are a family tradition that is binding my family’s story together.

jkcannon These are truly amazing cookies--soft, moist, and CHOCOLATE-Y, but they still have that pumpkin nutrition. I want to go make some right now.
